How WristNerd Makes Money
WristNerd is a free resource. You'll never pay to read our guides, take our Gift Finder Quiz, or receive our email newsletters. To keep the site running and our editorial team researching, we earn revenue through affiliate commissions.
Here's exactly how it works — no fine print, no spin.
What Are Affiliate Links?
Throughout our guides and reviews, you'll see buttons and links like:
- "Check Price on Amazon →"
- "See Best Deal →"
- "Check Price →"
These are affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase from the retailer (usually Amazon), we earn a small commission — typically 1–8% of the purchase price, depending on the product category and affiliate program.
Important: This costs you nothing extra. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you click our link or go to Amazon directly. The commission comes from the retailer's marketing budget, not your wallet.
Our Affiliate Partners
WristNerd participates in the following affiliate programs:
| Program | What It Covers | Commission Range | |---------|---------------|-----------------| | Amazon Associates | Most watch purchases and accessories | 1–4% | | Brand-Specific Programs | Select watch brands with direct partnerships | Varies | | ShareASale | Various watch retailers and accessory brands | Varies | | CJ Affiliate | Additional retail partners | Varies |
WristNerd is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
How Affiliate Revenue Affects Our Recommendations
It doesn't.
This is the most important part of this disclosure: affiliate commissions never influence our rankings, ratings, or recommendations.
Here's our commitment:
-
We pick first, monetize second. Our editorial team selects the best watches based on quality, value, design, and gift-worthiness. Only after a watch earns its spot in a guide do we add affiliate links.
-
Lower commissions don't lower rankings. If Watch A pays us a 4% commission and Watch B pays 1%, but Watch B is the better gift — Watch B gets the top spot. Every time.
-
No paid placements. Brands cannot pay to appear in our guides. No brand has ever paid for a ranking on WristNerd, and none ever will.
-
No sponsored content without labeling. If we ever publish sponsored content (as of this writing, we haven't), it will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" and separated from our editorial content.
-
Gift-Worthiness Scores are independent. Our proprietary 1–10 rating system is calculated based on five editorial factors (Presentation, Unboxing, Wow Factor, Versatility, Price-to-Value). Commission rates are not a factor.
Why We Use Affiliate Links
Affiliate revenue is what allows WristNerd to:
- Pay our editorial team to research, test, and write thorough guides
- Keep the site ad-free (no banner ads, no pop-ups, no autoplay videos)
- Update guides quarterly with current pricing and availability
- Maintain the Gift Finder Quiz and watch database
- Cover hosting, development, and operational costs
Without affiliate revenue, WristNerd would need to run display ads, charge for content, or accept sponsored placements — all of which would compromise the reader experience. Affiliate links let us stay independent while keeping everything free.
How to Support WristNerd
If you find our guides helpful and want to support the site:
-
Use our links when you buy. Clicking through our "Check Price" buttons before purchasing is the single best way to support WristNerd at zero cost to you.
-
Share our guides. Sending a guide to a friend, pinning it on Pinterest, or sharing it on social media helps more people find us.
-
Subscribe to our newsletter. More subscribers help us understand our audience and improve our content.
You are never obligated to use our affiliate links. If you prefer to go directly to a retailer, we respect that completely.
